This year’s “Picnic in the Park” was a definite success!  So many things to see, eat and buy and all for a great cause: to continue the betterment of your beloved Stuyvesant Park.  I was truly impressed with all of the items up for the silent auction.  For the baseball fans there were Mets and Yankees tickets.  For the animal lover – and there are lots of those in the Park – a dog bed made of recycled plastic bottles and a gift basket with goodies for your canine friends.  For the photography buff, there were beautiful photographs of the hawk who calls Stuy Park home as well as a shot of a snowy Friends school.

If you were hungry for a snack, well, there were treats galore: cupcakes – big, mini and on a stick, – cookies, rice crispy treats – you name it!

For the kids, there was a face painting station, a gardening station and a puppet show put on by the City Parks’ Foundation.  We had a great turn out of neighborhood kids and babies!

It was fun to connect with neighbors who were just passing by and wanted to learn more about the Alliance and the Park as well as those who are regulars.  The weather was beautiful and cooperative.  Couldn’t have asked for better, really.  All in all, fun had by kids and grown-ups alike!

A big thank you to all who volunteered their time and energy and those who purchased food or silent auction items – an early count indicates this was our best year yet!
